Flexible Exhaust Bellows | Stainless Steel Exhaust Hose | Engine Vibration Isolation Part

Product Information

In the exhaust systems of generator sets or heavy-duty engines, violent pulses of high-temperature gas and strong vibrations from operation often cause rigid pipe joints to crack or leak. Made of multi-layer stainless steel, a Flexible Exhaust Bellows withstands extreme exhaust temperatures, absorbs displacement from thermal expansion and contraction, and drastically isolates engine vibration from the exhaust pipe, ensuring the safety and lifespan of the entire system.

Working Principle

During operation, engine vibration is directly transmitted to the exhaust pipe. The wall of the Flexible Exhaust Bellows consists of a corrugated structure pressed from multiple thin layers of stainless steel. When vibration or thermal displacement occurs, these corrugations expand, contract, and deflect like a spring, absorbing and dissipating the immense stress. The inner liner smoothly guides the high-temperature exhaust through, preventing the corrugated wall from premature fatigue damage caused by direct scouring of hot airflow—achieving perfect flexible compensation.

Application Fields

1.Diesel generator sets: connecting the engine exhaust manifold and pipe to absorb strong vibrations.
2.Heavy trucks and construction machinery: protecting the exhaust line from breakage under harsh conditions.
3.Industrial gas turbines: compensating for massive thermal expansion of piping systems under high temperature and pressure.
4.Marine engine exhaust systems: adapting to hull deformation and providing salt-spray resistant flexible connections.

FAQ

Q1: Why must exhaust bellows use a multi-ply structure? Wouldn't a single-ply work?
A: A single-ply bellows easily develops fatigue cracks under high-frequency vibration and high-temperature pulses. A multi-ply structure not only significantly boosts pressure resistance but also acts as a safety barrier in case of minor leaks. The inner layer guides the flow, while the outer layers provide structural strength, dramatically extending service life under harsh conditions.

Q2: What should be noted during installation?
A: The bellows must be installed in its natural state; never forcibly stretch or compress it to fit the flange distance. Also, the inner liner's direction must align with the gas flow (downstream); otherwise, it will increase backpressure and accelerate internal wear.

Q3: Can you provide models with flanges or fittings?
A: Yes. We offer various end connections, including fixed flanges, floating flanges, weld ends, and V-band clamps, which can be customized according to the customer's exhaust piping drawings.
