Drilling rig (down-the-hole drill, roller cone drill)

Drilling rig (down-the-hole drill, roller cone drill)

Product Information

  • Name : Drilling rig (down-the-hole drill, roller cone drill)
  • SKU : BLT-127
  • Category : drills-dth-rotary

This type of drilling rig is a heavy-duty drilling equipment used in mining and earthwork blasting projects. It is mainly divided into two types: DTH (Down-the-Hole) drills and rotary cone drills. The entire machine is typically mounted on a crawler chassis, equipped with its own drill mast, power system, and air supply system, enabling it to drill blast holes and anchor holes in hard rock formations. DTH drills have a compact and flexible structure, making them suitable for small to medium-sized quarrying and slope support construction. Rotary cone drills, on the other hand, are larger in size, capable of drilling larger-diameter and deeper holes, and are primarily used for large-scale mining operations in open-pit mines.

Working Principle The equipment relies on an air compressor to provide a high-pressure air source, which, combined with a rotary pressurization mechanism, drives the drill rod and drill bit downward. The DTH (Down-the-Hole) model uses a downhole impactor to deliver high-frequency impacts to the drill bit, breaking rock, while the roller cone model uses the rolling and crushing action of the drill bit's roller cones to grind rock layers. High-pressure air continuously expels rock debris and residue from the hole, enabling steady downward advancement to form a regular deep hole, meeting the drilling requirements for blasting and anchoring operations. Application Fields 1. Open-pit Mines: Blasting drilling operations before mining coal, iron ore, and stone materials. 2. Quarrying: Rock breaking by drilling blasting holes in stone quarries for mountain excavation and stone extraction. 3. Infrastructure Construction: Drilling blast holes in rock layers for building foundation pits and excavating rock for road subgrades. 4. Slope Support: Anchor rod and anchor cable construction for mountain and road subgrade slopes to reinforce rock and soil structures. 5. Hydraulic Engineering: Drilling and blasting operations during dam construction and river channel mountain excavation.
