Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge

Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge

Product Information

  • Name : Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge
  • SKU : BLT-50
  • Category : ultrasonic-thickness-gauges

The ultrasonic thickness gauge is a portable non-destructive testing instrument that uses the principle of ultrasonic pulse reflection to quickly measure the thickness of materials such as metal, plastic, glass, pipes, and plates without damaging the workpiece surface. By attaching a dedicated probe to the workpiece being measured, readings can be obtained. It can also be used to detect the remaining wall thickness after corrosion and wear on the inner walls of equipment. Compact and easy to carry, with an intuitive digital display, it is widely used in industrial non-destructive testing and wall thickness inspections.

Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge

Working Principle The instrument probe emits high-frequency ultrasonic pulses that penetrate the material being tested. The sound waves reflect back to the probe upon reaching the bottom surface of the material. The device records the time difference between the emission and reception of the sound waves and, combined with the preset sound velocity of the material, automatically calculates the material thickness value. When corrosion or pitting defects occur inside the workpiece, the echo time changes, allowing the instrument to measure the remaining wall thickness and assess the extent of component wear. Application Fields 1. Pressure Vessels: Regular corrosion thickness measurement of storage tanks and boiler shells 2. Pipeline Industry: Wall thickness loss measurement of oil and gas transmission pipelines and chemical piping 3. Mechanical Manufacturing: Thickness quality inspection of incoming steel plates, castings, and pipes 4. Shipbuilding Industry: Rust and corrosion thickness detection of hull steel plates and cabin structures
