Product Information

  • Name : Micrometer
  • SKU : BLT-53
  • Category : micrometers

A micrometer is a precision external diameter measuring tool with higher accuracy than a vernier caliper. It relies on the principle of a screw pair to achieve micron-level precise measurement, with a standard accuracy of 0.01mm. It is primarily used to measure the outer diameter, thickness, and wire diameter of workpieces. Common measurement ranges include segmented specifications such as 0-25mm and 25-50mm. Micrometers are classified into mechanical scale micrometers and digital display micrometers, and are widely used in precision machining and dimensional quality inspection of precision components. They are core high-precision measuring tools in machining workshops.

Working Principle When the micrometer screw rotates one full turn, it advances axially by 0.5 mm. The fixed sleeve reads the base dimension above half a millimeter, while the circumferential scale on the thimble subdivides the remaining micro travel. The decimal value is read by aligning the scale marks. The digital model has a built-in displacement sensor, which directly displays the precise value on an LCD after opening and closing the measuring faces. The ratchet structure controls the measuring force, preventing excessive force from compressing the workpiece and causing measurement errors. Application Fields 1. Precision machining: dimensional inspection of shafts, bearings, and shims after finishing 2. Mold industry: thickness and outer diameter sampling inspection of mold inserts and small concave-convex parts 3. Hardware fasteners: tolerance control of screws, pins, and small parts 4. Metrology and quality inspection: re-inspection of incoming material dimensions and outgoing product accuracy verification
