Worm gear reducer
Working Principle
The motor power is connected to the worm input shaft. The helical teeth of the worm mesh with the teeth of the worm wheel, with the two shafts arranged at a 90-degree perpendicular angle. As the worm rotates, it drives the worm wheel to rotate slowly through helical engagement. The ratio of the number of worm starts to the number of worm wheel teeth achieves significant speed reduction, with a corresponding increase in torque. During transmission, the friction and meshing of the worm and worm wheel generate some heat, and the gearbox is filled with specialized lubricating oil for lubrication and heat dissipation. Due to the small helix angle of the worm, when the rear load applies reverse torque, the meshing tooth surfaces create a self-locking resistance, preventing the load from driving the worm to reverse. This achieves a self-locking anti-reversal effect when the machine stops.
Application Fields
1. Small lifting and conveying equipment: Light bucket elevators, small belt feeders, preventing the load from reversing or sliding due to the material's own weight after shutdown.
2. Packaging and printing machinery: Carton sealers, labelers, roll material take-up and unwind mechanisms, locking the work position to prevent misalignment.
3. Valve drive devices: Manual and electric butterfly valves, gate valve actuators, locking the valve opening to prevent valve disc reversal caused by pressure erosion.
4. Chemical mixing equipment: Small mixing tanks, pharmaceutical blending agitators with low-speed drives, self-locking to fix the mixing position.
